As part of its efforts to enhance the efficiency of government tenders, purchases, and sales processes, the Bahrain Tender Board (BTB) granted accreditation licences to 283 employees from various government entities in 2024.

The accreditation enables these employees to join tender evaluation committees as qualified and certified members approved by BTB, following their successful completion of a specialised training programme designed to prepare candidates for committee membership. The programme familiarised them with relevant processes and procedures, ensuring optimal implementation of the law and regulations governing government procurement, thereby contributing to securing goods and services under the best terms and prices.

In this context, Eng. Jamal Abdulaziz Al Alawi, Secretary General of the Bahrain Tender Board, emphasised that accrediting evaluation committee members from Purchasing Authorities forms part of BTB’s strategy to enhance the competence of specialists in these entities. This is achieved by equipping them with the knowledge required on tendering procedures and approved practices in evaluation, negotiation, and award processes.

Eng. Al Alawi added that the Board intends to continue its efforts during the current year to qualify more employees from procuring entities to become BTB-accredited members. This reflects BTB’s commitment to developing government procurement in line with international best practices, strengthening partnerships with all stakeholders, ensuring efficiency and sustainability in government purchasing processes, promoting competitiveness among suppliers and contractors, and supporting the successful delivery of government projects with high quality in accordance with standards of sustainability and innovation.
